Privacy policy

Capysort is a Mac app that sorts your Photos library, Messages, folders and apps on your Mac. This policy covers the app, its plugins for Claude and ChatGPT, this website, and buying a license. The short version: your library stays on your Mac, an assistant sees only what you allow, and we never receive your photos, messages or files.
What the app reads, on your Mac
- Your Photos library, through Apple’s Photos framework, to find duplicates, similar shots and screenshots, read text in screenshots, and group people and events. It never reads your Hidden album, your smart albums or Recently Deleted.
- Messages, in the version of Capysort from this website, once you give it Full Disk Access: who each conversation is with, how many messages and attachments it has, and when it was last active, so it can sort spam, old numbers and codes. It reads message text to sort conversations on your Mac and to find details like emails and birthdays you can save to Contacts.
- Folders you add, such as Downloads, and nothing else on your disk.
- The apps in your Applications folder and the files they leave behind, when you use the uninstaller.
- Contacts, when you save names or details to a card.
Captions, screenshot sorting and the Ask bar use Apple Intelligence on your Mac. What Capysort works out, and its History of changes, is stored in the app’s own folder on your Mac. We have no server that receives it, and Capysort has no account to sign in to.
What an assistant receives
If you connect Claude or ChatGPT, the assistant asks Capysort questions through a helper that runs on your Mac. Capysort answers only within what you allow in its settings, and access is off until you turn it on. Depending on those settings, an answer can include:
- Counts, categories, dates, sizes and kinds of photo, album names, the names of files in folders you added, and the names of your apps. These are always included once access is on.
- Text read from screenshots, captions and keywords.
- Names of people you’ve named.
- Where photos were taken: off, rounded to about 10 km, or exact.
- Small previews of photos, only if you turn previews on.
- Photos tagged Medical or ID & passport, only if you turn that on. Otherwise the assistant sees only that they exist, with their date and size.
- For Messages, only if you turn it on: each conversation’s category, message count and dates, with phone numbers masked.
An assistant never receives your Hidden album, what your messages say, or anything in folders you haven’t added. What it does receive goes to the company that runs it, Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT, and is handled under their privacy policies, not this one. Capysort does not send it to us. You can turn access off at any time in Capysort’s settings.
The Capysort plugins for Claude and ChatGPT contain no code that collects data. They start the helper inside the Capysort app on your Mac.
What reaches the internet from the app
- Update checks. Capysort asks our update server whether a newer version exists. The request carries the app’s version and your IP address, as any web request does.
- License activation. When you enter a license key, Capysort sends the key and a name for this Mac to Lemon Squeezy, who check it and count the Macs it’s active on.
Capysort has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Buying a license
Lemon Squeezy sells Capysort licenses on our behalf as the merchant of record. They collect your name, email, payment details and billing address to take the payment and charge the right tax, under their own privacy policy. We receive your name, email, country, what you bought and your license key, and we use them to send your license, help you with it and handle refunds. We never see your card number.
This website
capysort.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its fonts and images are served from capysort.com itself, so your browser makes no requests to anyone else. The company that hosts the site keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to run and protect it.
If you email us, we keep the conversation to answer you and to help with later questions about your license.
Sharing
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it except with Lemon Squeezy and our email and website providers to do the things above, or when the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
Everything Capysort knows about your library is on your Mac. Deleting the app and its folder removes it. To see, correct or delete the purchase details and emails we hold, write to us. We answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to how we use your information or to complain to a data protection authority.
Children
Capysort isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what the app sends anywhere, we’ll say so in the app’s release notes too.
